Safety and Security for Expats

Overview

Modern life, particularly for expatriates living far from home without trusted support systems, may present profound challenges.  We have little or no control over war, political protests, coups, terrorism, criminal acts or natural disasters such as earthquakes, violent storms and floods.

Unfortunately, the aftermath of an incident or natural disaster may produce conditions that are as dangerous as the original event.  Destroyed roads and transit systems, disrupted communications, panicked crowds, and serious health risks such as polluted water and uncontained sewerage systems all put people at risk. Planning, training and implementing emergency plans substantially lessen loss of life, serious injury, and property loss or damage.

We may not be able to prevent challenging events, but we can learn to minimize their impact though prior planning. Understanding the risks and preparing for emergencies is the focus of this training.
