Investigations Skills for NGO Workers
Overview
NGO workers may find themselves intervening and providing services in challenging and complex situations that demand INVESTIGATIONS, fact-finding and eventual collaboration with law enforcement bodies. Often the NGO worker is the first person at the scene of a crime of domestic violence or child abuse, and sometimes the only person in whom a victim or witness will confide. For those reasons, it is critical that the NGO worker understand how to gather basic but comprehensive and factual information, document a crime scene and set up ongoing services for survivors of crime and those threatened by it. Skills development takes place in problem-solving classroom scenarios.
