Institutionalized Corruption
Overview
INSTITUTIONALIZED CORRUPTION is perennially extensive and pervasive corruption, a way of life, a goal, an outlook towards public office. Institutionalized corruption corrodes economic growth and damages the world’s perception of a country. Bribery, nepotism, and other forms of corruption exist in all countries, but its corrosive effects hurt poor nations the most. The World Bank considers corruption one of the greatest obstacles to economic and social development because it undermines the rule of law and weakens the institutional foundations upon which economic growth depends. This module explores institutionalized corruption in its many forms with lecture and case studies.
