CULTURAL CHANGE
Overview
Culture may be defined as the full range of learned behavior patterns. It is shared language, traditions, and beliefs that set groups of peoples apart from others. Adaptive cultures support and stimulate growth; while maladaptive cultures may appear to be frozen in time and reject new ideas and ways of doing things. As cultures change and acquire new traits, old and no longer useful or popular ones inevitably disappear. This course introduces the idea and techniques of implementing CULTURAL CHANGE to students who live and work in repressive cultures and to professional consultants and volunteers who work with them.
